Concept
Single Parent Student Success is the 'Creative Issue' assignment where you had the opportunity to pick an issue you were most passionate about and create a poster and package design for it. I chose the issue about single student parents facing limited resources and support when acquiring higher education. It is hard enough as it is being a college student but 10x tougher when you're raising a family on your own. The imagery you see resembles the shape of a brain, the organ that allows us to problem solve, learn and make connections. The brain was created with abstract chaotic lines to symbolize the anxieties, complexities and logistics of applying to college. As you open up the book the lines unfold into crisp clear lines leading you into a step by step process of how to handle school. This allows the reader to feel at ease and in control on handling the complexities being a single student parent. Each mailer package would come with resources and a 'get started' postcard to help each recipient's dreams become a plan, turned into actions and made into a reality.
